On Wednesday 30 July 2008, a woman in a car erratically pulled up next to mine, after having sounded her horn from behind, and pulled a horrible face at me. I witnessed an ugly facial expression, to which my passenger at the time can testify to be true.
I was quite willing to calmly and safely park our cars, get out, introduce ourselves and discuss what she viewed was the problem, including directing her to look at the road's lane markings to show her that I had in fact just driven forwards in one lane, without changing lanes, to a safe stop at the traffic lights.
I know this intersection well, and have driven the route many times, so I am well aware of the road markings (I like to take in a LOT when I'm driving). I can see that if a driver isn’t looking, they might mistakenly think that the lane I was driving in magically creates another non-existent lane beyond the “Keep Clear” section.
However, before I could even ascertain why the mystery woman was so angry, aggressive and mean towards me, she quickly snuck around the corner with the ushering of a green turning-lane light.
As I couldn't address the apparent problem with her in a civil manner, I drew this picture as a response to my experience.
She wasn't driving a red car, but it matches the colour that I've used to represent the colour of the angry cheek.
Cathartic? Yes. Absolutely. ☺
