
It was reported through The Age that roughly 4,000 health professionals began a strike today due to a a standstill being reached in a dispute with the government over money being put into health. Among these workers were radiation therapists, radiographers, occupational therapists and social workers.
Kathy Jackson, the state secretary of the Health Services Union, stated that there may be chaos present at hospitals during Christmas as non-emergency procedures, such as the x-ray and treatment of broken arms, would not be dealt with, in favour of emergency procedures.
